How will you remember the horrific events of 9/11? A tempting, and all-too-human response, is to harbor the outrage and resentment that naturally follows such an insidious assault. Following this natural response of "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" the whole world will soon be blind and toothless. Jesus offered a different response, "bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" (Luke 6:28).
Our friends at the Zwemer Institute invite us to do just that, in this compelling video clip.
Boil it down to its essence and Church Planting Movements are really about discipleship. For what are churches but communities of believers committed to a lifestyle of "obeying everything Christ has commanded." Too often we miss this powerful insight. Is it possible for us to separate discipleship from knowledge-based curricula and institutional models of discipleship? A few creative disciples from the Four Square community of faith show us what is possible.
House church is contagious. Before you know it, new house churches pop up in the most unexpected of places. This is what happened to us in Bangalore, when the chokhidar <building caretaker> who lived in the garage beneath my neighbor's apartment, came to faith in Christ and then led several men on our street to Christ. Within a short time, he was forming a house garage church in his little garage apartment. Watch the video story of the garage church here.
